TEFERD is continually reviewing its activities in Kumi District through ongoing consultation with local communities and other interested parties. The core of the foundation is its commitment to appropriate education.
Key programs in 2004 are:
- To promote education, research and rural development
- To support rural communities to generate or enhance income through improved argicultural practices
- To disseminate information as a tool for societal transformation
- To promote and suppport health improvement and health-seeking behaviour within households and communities
- To disseminate relevant, community-specific information aimed at countering HIV/AIDS
- To support women, children and men affected by HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases
- To establish a community radio station in conjunction with the Humanitus Foundation, to broadcast programs on HIV/AIDS awareness and related issues
- To train members of the local community in radio broadcasting
