About us

The Teso Foundation for Education, Research & Rural Development [TEFERD] is active in the Kumi District of eastern Uganda. The district has a population of almost 400,000, many of whom are subsistence farmers.

TEFERD recognises the importance of affordable, appropriate education for all and is involved in education programs aimed at countering the prevalance of HIV/AIDS throughout the district.

Issues of appropriate education, HIV/AIDS and related subjects are many and varied. As such, TEFERD is continually reviewing issues and amending or adding to programs as required.

The foundation takes into account the views of communities, governments, NGOs and other interest groups when evaluating issues. As such, TEFERD appreciates feedback on its methodology, selection, implementation and evaluation of issues relevant to the people of Kumi District.
